Has Jermained Taylor defeated his mental demons?

I've always been a big Taylor fan. Of course, it was frustrating seeing him mentally handicap himself preventing him from fighting to his full potential. Even his own support system of fans and statesmen were starting to question his heart and drive as a champion. This all climaxed with his devastating KO loss to Pavlik.

As cynical as it sounds, it kinda felt like that loss needed to happen and in that fashion. the fire in Jermaine's heart needed to be lit again. now those supporters who were once doubting him somehow found jermaine relate able again and found new faith in the hopes that jermaine would learn from this KO and come back mentally stronger and with a fiery need to be the champion he was first thought of being.

the rematch displayed a newly driven and focused Taylor, not concerning himself with the title he lost, but more with the fans, supporters and dignity he once had. this new and improved taylor was more patient, focused and methodical. unfortunately, it wasn't enough to convince the judges that he won the fight, but I was impressed with what I saw.

my question is, was this a one time deal? does jermaine have the capacity to keep this going or will he mentally crumble and revert back to the jermaine of old?

I liked Taylor a bit also. But i dont know about him. He beats a 40+ year old hopkins. Draws with Winky, beats 2 154 pounders than loses twice to pavlik by Tko and Decision. And hes moving up to 168, dosent sound right when he barely gets passed 160 pounders

I think he has, even though he lost he showed quite a bit of improvements in the second Pavlik fight. His one big problem right now is his stamina.

Dude is kaput! Finished. He may have had all the physical tools, but he doesn't have the most powerful tool of all, the mind.

maybe he'd be undefeated for the 10+ years if he was at 168......

and we would be discussing how he'd beat prime roy jones jr.

Taylor fought well enough in the Pavlik rematch that he shouldn't be embarrassed. He'll be back. 168 is heatin up and there's some good fights and probably some titles there for Taylor if he keeps focused. I think he should hook back up wit Pat Burns tho.
