Jake LaMotta's Thoughts On Floyd Mayweather

“I fought 13 years, 106 fights, and I made $750,000, total. Fighting all the time keeps you strong, makes you able to take a shot better, but I would have fought less if I made more money.” He added that he would have wrestled, danced, whatever, if anybody had asked him to and paid him for it".

    Thanks Jake, I agree champ.

Of course Jake is right and that applies to all sports. But the other side of the coin is that when LaMotta was fighting he could have bought a $100,000 home which would be worth millions today.

That Jake is right, and that top boxers have it much better now (and deserve it). But also that you have to keep in mind that money figures from 60 years ago need to be adjusted for inflation. 750K back then would be equivelent to several million now.

True but thats is 750,000 in his whole career. He is still saying the correlation to what fighters made then to what normal people made back then is not in the same ballpark as today and that as he said he would have fought less fights and did whatever he could outside the ring to make money because the correlation is more astounding today than back then.

But it still stands that 750k in a career from 60yrs ago is the same as millions today. By the era's standards lamotta was as wealthy a man as most elite boxers today.

It's not a coincidence that well-paid heavyweight champions didn't fight as often as lesser-paid fighters in other weight classes, and often chose to partake in well-paid exhibitions.

How much has Floyd made so far? 100 million? I find it hard to believe that LaMotta would act like a clown in a wrestling ring and avoid the best fighters (didn't he fight SRR like 6 times?) just to make MORE money, had he made that kind of money.

Saying millions and 100 million is a huge difference.
