Donaire knew he was in there with someone who could fight. it was close, not in terms of rounds, but in terms of both fighters giving and taking. Donaire taking much less, but still taking. I think Donaire even had to shake the cobwebs loose on a wide shot from Maldonado. Donaire even said he didnt' fight the fight he wanted to fight. It was a good fight, clear and rightful winner and everyone knew who was winning the fight. He had virtually every round. But SOME rounds were closer then you'd expect from a shut out like that, they were just still edged or clearly won by Donaire.

Maldonado had only 1 good round after he got knockdown and then he goes wild like a bull.. Look at the fight again, Donaire's face was clean as ever like he didn't fight.. What the geck are you saying he wasn't de same.. The fight should have stop in 5 rounds and the commentators was even surprised they stopped it in 8.. Look at the fight and the face of Maldonado again.. It was a 1 sided beating.. Maldonado was eating all counters all night long..

If memory serves, he WAS bleeding at the press conference. Furthermore, that's not really important. I didn't say he was CLOSE to losing. I said it was a good, competitive fight, to an extent. Gatti/Mayweather.. that's sparring. This was a BETTER champion, beating a GAME challenger, pretty comfortably but still IN a fight. That's all I said.
