It's a very interesting article written by Thomas Hauser about HBO's preferential treatment to some promoters and budgeting. I didn't quote it here because it's a pretty long article.
HBO: Headed By Oscar?

The following day, HBO reversed its position and announced that it would, in fact, produce Countdown to Cotto-Margarito. But one source with knowledge of the inner workings at the network says, “If Arum hadn’t publicly humiliated them and if some of the people around Ross weren’t getting worried about all the complaints in the industry about special treatment for Golden Boy, there wouldn’t be a Countdown show for Cotto-Margarito. Think about how absurd that is. You’re talking about a fight that everyone thinks will be one of the best fights of the year.”
And people said I was hating or talking out of my ass when I said ODLH probably had something to do with the countdown not happening. HBO loves the golden boy. -
This shouldnt come as a surprise. How else do u think fighters like RJJ got away with fighting such weak competition for so long? HBO was paying these fighters big sums of money nomatter who they fought. There was a time when Roy was fought a garbage man, school teacher, and police officer, while he was in his prime. Im not taking anything away from Roy. He was a great fighter, and will definitely go down as an ATG, but u cant deny that HBO was paying him big bucks for fighting weak competition. In other words "why fight this dangerous opponent for 10mil, when i can fight a garbage man for almost the same amount?"Comment

That was one of the best boxing articles I have ever read. It was very informative and written in a unbiased nature IMO. HBO is full of **** and now I can see why I have seen so many bull**** fights over the years. Bob Arum may lie about a fighter personally to promote his fighter but it don't seem like he lies when it comes to him making more money.Comment

Exactly, he even says himself that there is no reason why Cotto vs Margarito cant be on free HBO. But I guess people at HBO think otherwise. That was one of the best boxing articles I have ever read. I was quite surprised by the comments Arum was making also. I never knew this Al Haymon guy had so much clout. HBO knows they are full of **** but things won't change until the paying customers start hitting them where it truly hurts on a more consistant basis and that is in the pockets. PBF is my favorite fighter but I refuse to pay for PBF vs De la Hoya II and watching a Hatton rematch might not even be a option because of how much bull**** that fight is.Comment

I didn't know Haymon carried so much clout with him either, I only knew he is an adviser to quite a few fighters, now I see why.I was quite surprised by the comments Arum was making also.
