    Forget Mayweather,there is Manny Pacman:GBP

Despite winning his comeback bout at the weekend, Ricky Hatton is unlikely to see his wish of a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr next spring granted. Hatton beat Juan Lazcano on points at the City of Manchester Stadium at the weekend and is next due to box against Paulie Malignaggi in November, but he is likely to be told that he should forget about facing Mayweather again for the foreseeable future and instead look for smaller boxers to face.

Golden Boy, Hatton's promoter, is thought to believe he will need at least three victories to give a rematch with Mayweather, the WBC welterweight champion, credibility. Should Hatton beat Malignaggi, the IBF light-welterweight champion, in the United States, they are looking at a shortlist of three opponents, who would move up in weight to challenge Hatton.

The list is headed by Manny Pacquiao, the popular three-weight world champion from the Philippines, and features two former world lightweight champions, Juan Diaz, of the US, and Michael Katsidis, from Australia.

Mayweather stopped Hatton, 29, in ten rounds in Las Vegas in December. In the meantime, Mayweather, an unbeaten five-weight world champion who is widely regarded as the world's best boxer, has another rematch on his mind, against Oscar De La Hoya in September. When they met last May, it was the richest bout of all time.

Great news. Now all we need is for the Oscar/Floyd rematch to get canceled.

          Agreed.

GBP knows what they're doing. To maximize Hatton's remaining earning potential they have to match him wisely. Targeting smaller guys with big names is clearly the way to go.

Hatton-Pacquiao for the linear 140 lb title is, by far, the biggest possible fight left for the Hitman, and GBP will do everything in their power to make it happen (read: minimal-risk matchmaking).

If Hatton could beat Malignaggi and then get past Pac, then a rematch with Mayweather is much more viable. Beating Malignaggi and Katsidis or Diaz...not so much.

After how he looked late vs. Lazcano, I don't think we can assume ANYTHING at this point.

Not if he fights like he did against Lazcano. It just seems like he's been a different fighter since the Tszyu fight. I was impressed with him in that fight, and since then he's been underwhelming.

Having a size advantage would help, but if Collazo could rock him and Floyd could send him into space, I think there's a good chance Pac can hurt him.

If GBP can get Hatton to that point, they'll be happy enough. Then they'll plot his comeback against Rocky Juarez in Manchester...

I would bet on Manny if they fought. Seriously. Late rounds TKO.
