I think Kirkland is ready for this step-up but Forrest won't take it. Forrest wants payday fights against fellow aging fighters. He won't get those fights because he's never been a marquee name.

Personally, I think Kirkland would take Forrest. Forrest has been in soft lately. Look at it, Forrest got a BS decision against Quartey, fought a finished Baldomir who shouldn't have been in a title fight and Michelle Piccirrillo, who ran away from Mayorga all night.

Now he's fighting Sergio Mora who was a Contender fighter. Do you see a pattern?

Kirkland fights a very aggressive, hungry style. It's going to take a lot of jabs to keep this guy off you and I don't think Forrest has it in him at 37 years old. Kirkland would run right through Forrest.

I remember on some radio show someone said of Forrest, "He moved up to 154 not because he couldn't make the weight but because he couldn't make the competition."

I see where you're coming from, and I could definitely see this fight playing out like that. I honestly think Vernon could UD Kirkland, but wouldn't bet on it for sure! This is one of those fights I would just enjoy seeing and wouldn't even care to pick a winner!

About the Winky fight, Vernon and Wink are best friends and will never fight each other. Vernon-Kirkland won't happen either for at least a good while. Kirkland's people will not throw him in with a great vet like that yet. He won't fight for a title prob by the end of 2009 and by that time Vernon will be 39 years old so maybe by then. It would be a good matchup though Kirkland is always entertaining.

If Forrest fights a good young fighter, he will be upset. Good matchmaking has made him look like he has more in the tank than he does.

It's good to see someone else realizes that. His "impressive" wins last year were a joke. If Al Haymon wasn't his manager they never would have been on HBO and Showtime.
