    ..PAUL WILLIAMS: Overrated Or Underrated?...

People on this forum, tend to either be TOO hard on the kid, or HYPE him up, WAY TOO MUCH. I was wondering if there was a general balance on the overall board.

He's got a pretty good record. Only one loss, to a guy who's only loss is to Miguel Cotto, Carlos Quintana (24-1-0).

He's beaten Antonio Margarito, a faded Sharmba Mitchell, and gave a overhyped Walter Matthysse his first loss in an exciting fight. He's an exciting fighter with great stamina, a good workrate and some nice speed. Decent jab. Very solid chin, aswell.

However, his weaknesses would be his footwork, in-fighting, ability to switch to a plan B mid-fight, lacks HUGE punching power and can be hit when he focuses on TOO much offense.

He's ALREADY trying to avenge his only loss and has a decent chance of doing that.

So, what are your thoughts on Paul Williams? Keep in mind, that he was ALWAYS trying in his losing effort, is still VERY young, and could learn to get the fight to be fought at HIS distance. If not, work better on the inside.

So, overrated or underrated? Your thoughts.

Quintana is going to **** him up this time, the first fight was fairly close even though Quintana edged it out. But this time it won't be close at all with Quintana raping him hard

I would say in between, He was dangerous enough for arum to say he didnt want Margarito to take the fight with him and that he would rather have Cotto fighting Mosley than Williams.

I think he has time on his side to show us if he is the real deal.

Like most if not all fighters, he's overrated by some and underrated by others.

BTW, Quintana is a horrible style match up for him and I think it was ******ed for him to take a rematch with Quintana.

            Overrated IMO.

            Quintana exposed him.

Neutralizing his high punch output by using movement. I knew it would happen and it did. You can't hit a moving target if you're only good at hitting a stationary target.

            Enough said.

no power, no footwork, lacks the mental aspect, and is very tall with a long reach, why he's has success.

I'm kinda surprised no one has said underrated yet. In a sense, anyway.

PWilliams was overrated after the Margarito win... but he's underrated now that he lost to Quintana.
