I enjoy watching what you described, but only when there is a certain amount of skill and technique behind the toe2toe action. That's why I appreciate fighters like Erik Morales and Miguel Cotto. Those guys are warriors who put a great deal of technique and thought behind their slugging matches.

I have seen some guys on ESPN who slug it out, but they are just awful to watch because they are unskilled, sloppy brawlers. The Feliciano fight not too long ago is a good example. Those dudes were just throwing hands with no regard for anything else. But it was sloppy...and ultimately unsatisfying.

Baldomir vs. Mayweather was more exciting than Vazquez vs. Marquez. I have yet to see Vazquez vs. Marquez more than once and I've seen Baldomir vs. Mayweather more than 8 times now.
