Mancini: "Pavlik Knocks Lockett Out in Five or Six?

Former champion and Youngstown legend, Ray Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, told The Plain Dealer that WBC/WBO middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik (33-0, 29 KOs) is going to knock Gary Lockett (30-1, 21 KOs) out in five to six-rounds. The fight takes place on June 7 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. [details]

I really have no idea what he means about everyone wanting to beat the "ugly American". That went right over my head. Can anyone enlighten me?

Nice to hear from Boom Boom. I bet he's a big Pavlik fan, not too often a boxing star comes from Youngstown, OH.

I'd say that was a fair prediction. I would love it if Lockett went the distance.

In addition, Mancini said just prior that Lockett is fighting for his country. Something Mancini knows very well how unexpectedly tough these nationalistic fighters can be at times (his fight against Duk Koo Kim was supposed to be an easy fight).

Mancini says, "Pavlik knocks out Lockett out in five or six rounds"

I'd have to agree with him on that statement...

pavlik might even get the knockout sooner than that...

Its going to be something similar to cotto v. gomez in my opinion; a one sided beatdown.

he compared the pavlik-lockett fight to his fight with arguello (mancini-arguello). arguello, the champion, was craftier and taller than mancini but mancini was the busy fighter until arguello's left cross landed on his chin and that's all for boom-boom.

                i agree with him.
