    A bit too far?

David Haye has been hailed as the saviour of the ailing heavyweight division with the skills and charisma of Muhammad Ali.

Golden Boy Promotions have agreed exclusive rights to promote Haye in the United States and their influential chief executive Richard Schaefer believes they have captured a superstar in the making.

Haye will open his assault on the division later this year with his first opponent likely to be Hasim Rahman and Schaefer said: "What David brings is not just excitement and skills in the ring but the charisma and excitement outside of it in the same way the great Muhammad Ali once did."

He added: "We think the heavyweight division was in dire need of a face. The heavyweights are the glorious division of the sport.

"We believe that David Haye will be the face of the sport in the heavyweights.

"We at Golden Boy Promotions were waiting to make our foray into the division because we felt there was no-one who could capture the imagination of the public.

"We were waiting for that person but now we have him in David Haye, who has made a firm commitment to the division.

"And he's done it in typical Haye style by declaring he will fight two top 10 ranked heavyweights from the start - and then take on Klitschko."

i dont know about muhammad ali as he was american but i think he will be a big hit in america in the heavyweight division thanks to his good mic skills and his style and pizzaz.

Haye can be a star if he wins, but right now that is a big if.

Haye will add a lot of excitment into the stale heavyweight division. I think (Like Tyson did) he will be able to appeal to non boxing fans because he KOs people a lot, and usually early. I dont mean he will be as great as Tyson but you get what i mean i hope.

I dont think they should compare him to Ali though...thats a bit too far
