Seeing that at that time he was still trying to get recognition as being the best I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes. I think all of Floyd's moves are strategically calculated. The only reason why he was going to fight Zab was because it was a high profile fight and at the time he was the lineal champ in the division. The only reason why he fought Baldy was because he was the lineal champ. No one in history has become the lineal champ of more than 3 divisions. Floyd made that move soley to be mentioned with the other great fighters that accomplished that feat
