Is The Price Right For Another Casamayor-Campbell Fight?

By Jake Donovan - Between the purse amounts for next month's David Diaz-Manny Pacquiao clash and the winning purse bid for the mandated Nate Campbell-Joel Casamayor rematch, it appears that gas prices aren't all that's on the rise these days.

The lightweight division is the current sect to reap the benefits of inflation. Such news was never more evident than at Tuesday's purse bid to determine who would earn the right to promote Campbell-Casamayor II (should both fighters sign on for the fight). Promoter Don King left the rest of the pack in the dust, submitting a whopping $1,220,000.

this only mean one thing: both nate and casa have no potential marketability either because both are already in an advanced age or one or either is unexciting to watch. if they will take the offer, they would look like vultures who scrambled on a cadaver of a tiny rodent.

even ivan calderon will not take the offer.

but in fairness, i'd love watching this fight. but is it worth the pay?

Jake, one mistake in the article was that if Casamayor were to win, then King would have options on him. That is not correct. It is only in the WBC where that can happen. In the IBF, WBO, and WBA, you do not get options if a fight goes to purse bid.
