During his weigh-in for the trilogy bout with Sam Soliman in Melbourne, WBA "regular" super middleweight champ Anthony Mundine announced that he was planning to vacate the title and drop the down to middleweight after he beats Soliman. Mundine said the only way he will stay at 168 is if he lands a fight with undisputed champion Joe Calzaghe. The mandatory to his title is Mikkel Kessler, who presviously beat him, but Mundine says the public is not interested in watching him fight Kessler again. [details]

"I don't want to fight Kessler again because i'm afraid he'll give me a bigger beating the second time around. I'd rather keep picking up the paychecks fighting guys i already know i can beat like Soliman or Green. If i can't keep beating these fellas up, then i'm gonna prove what a tough guy i am by chasing after fighters that would never ever stoop so low as to waste their time stepping into a ring with such an average fighter like myself. (Messrs Calzaghe, Pavlik or Winky Wright, please take a bow.) -- Anthony Mundine
This is a genuine quote from Mr Mundine. These very words may not have spewed from his mouth but the implication is there for all to see and hear.Comment

Got the privledge of seeing Mundine at 73.8 KG's this week train.
This guy is a monster.
You guys are totally under estimating this guy.
Seriously. Im not being a hugger here, but moving down looks to be the best division of his life.
Mundine UD Winky. Mundine UD Pavlik.
Either way both fights will be competitive.
Against Winky Mundine will be more aggressive. Both have fantastic defences.
Against Kelly, Mundine fight from the outside and wins a boring display.
This guy is hitting his prime as we speak.
I have a question for you guys? If Winky and Pavlik are so confident, why don't they sign the fight?
Money isn't an issue here, by fighting Mundine Winky earns enough to satisfy his massive needs, and Pavlik earns more than he would fighting Rubio.
To me i think he will land Winky, or Tito, or maybe even have to fight Spinks.
KP and Winky could be ducking Mundine here. The money is good, he can give a big pay day!
Get ready guys, i saw Choc train at 73.8 KG's earlier this week and he looks like an absolute machine!Comment

Why fight a Euro fighter who is more chance of beating you.
When you can fight lesser fighters in Pavlik, Winky, most likely win and earn global fame? Than you can go back and fight Kessler after that.Comment

Well why don't they fight him then?
Your writing Mundine off way to easy.
Kessler is a better fighter than both u mentioned, and many were picking Mundine in the rematch before it was signed.
Hes better than Froch!Comment
