The problems that Cotto had at 140 were due to the way he drained himself to make weight. Just look at what happened to Chris Byrd this guy took punches from the biggest hitters in the heavyweight division, he drains himself to make 175 and the first punch he takes from a light heavy wobbles him and then goes on to get ko. Draining yourself to make weight takes a lot out of you.
At welter Cotto has a solid chin, he took some hard overhand rights from Mosley and walked right thru them.
his chin gained 7 lbs. lol...but anyways his chin's been tested from Corley to Torres to Judah to Mosely...his chin been through a cycle it seems, if he can take Judah's fast, flush power shots and not get knocked down then he should be able to take anything now...
Cotto got caught w/ a Malignaggi right hand that wobbled jim....Paulie only has 5 K.O's only thing Cotto needs is a strong finisher. Corrlaes would've Knocked him out. He's very low blow lucky Zab didn't konck him out in the 1sdt round.
Utter ****, Cotto will get knocked out in 1 of his next 5.
Enough is enough people, yeah cotto has been wobbled before but hey who hasnt. even magarito who every on says can run headfirst into a full speed mack truck and win has been hurt. lets just be real, anyone who gets hit right can get hurt, ANYONE!
Cotto's chin is not great. Margarito ate Cintron's best punches and laughed it off.
Here's the deal: Cotto had been wobbled at 140 pounds, where he was struggling to make weight. In my opinion, he was too light at that weight and that became a detriment.
Look at de la Hoya, most thought he had a weak chin at 130 when he admits he ate only an orange a day sometimes to make weight. He took a few early spills but has since shown a much better beard.
Cotto's problem at times has been defense, which was exploited early by Zab Judah's sharp counterpunching. When Cotto brawls, he is susceptible to uppercuts and straight punches, so it might not be in his best interests to do that against a puncher like Margarito.

Margarito smothered Cintron's best punches. Cintron did not have the room to get his best shots off on Margarito. Plus he was being pushed back, which takes away the momentum of the punches.

Do I think Cotto had a bad chin? Nope.
i agree. i think if anything his commitment to his punches leaves him open sometimes.
