I started boxing last year May of 2007 had my first match June 30th, 2007 (I only sparred two times before my first match, against the same opponent who had no fights also). I was 16 at the time I came in on the scale 138 but fought at 145.
I lost the first round, won the 2 round, and was up on the score cards coming into the 3rd round. I lost, the ref stopped it 30 seconds left in the fight I gassed out, if I would have came threw I could have won. I hurt the guy 3 times in 2 second round and could have knocked him out. Everytime I hurt him I gave him enough time to recover, because I was tired after throwing left hands constantly down the middle. My corner said I was hurting him badly but half the time I didn't even know it.
Not enough sparring was my enemy and letting the crowd effect me was my down fall (never fought in front of a big crowd like that before, the event was outside) . I was so much worried about preforming good I was dead tired by the end of the first round.Comment

I had 25 wins and 3 losses in the 203 lbs. class. I lost to Lance Whitaker in my 3rd am fight by 2nd round ko. I never fought pro, though i signed a three fight deal with a no-name promoter. I decided that I wanted to get into the business aspect of boxing (cutman and manager). I have worked with several boxers, but now I just do freelance articles and interview for newspapers and magazines. I started boxing at age 8, my brother me to the gym and I was hooked ever since.Comment
