Marquez and Vasquez deserve to be higher on the p4p lists

Watching these guys again, they make guys like Hatton and Pavlik look like a joke. Their punches are so crisp, unbelievablely skilled fighting on the inside and outside. If you watch them closely, its just amazing the VARIETY of punches they throw...the small variations to the left hook and right hands, and then their combinations!

Honestly, they deserve to be above a lot of the people on the p4p list right now. Hatton and Pavlik cant even compare to these guys, and I would even argue that theyre more skilled than old man, 20 punches a round Hopkins and you could even make a very good case that theyre more skilled than Pacquiao, Calzaghe and Cotto.

the fact that Marquez is not in the Ring's p4p list at all is a complete joke, especially considering he dominated Bantamweight and then moved up and fought incredibly close fights with the ruler of Super Bantamweight, Vasquez.

These guys fought 25 rounds at a hectic pace. 3 dramatic, brutal, hard fights within one year. these were not your regular brawls with mindless slugging, but highly technical, strategical offensive fights. it really annoys me when some "fans" call then "brawls with no boxing skill". these particular fans just happen to be fans of a certain fighter too.

its sad that fights like De La Hoya/Mayweather II overshadow these just because there is money to promote them. If the fans only knew.

true, these guys are great and are a lot more entertaining to watch than the other p4p guys but they aren't popular so they get no love.

True they're indeed very good when it comes to brawling. They got great chin and power but i beg to differ putting them above the current top 4. Those guys have fought different elite fighters w/ various skills not just brawlers. If vasquez fought a different/the other marquez the outcome wouldn't be the same.

these guys arent just brawlers though. this wasnt the gatti/ward trilogy. vazquez is a gifted technical fighter and Rafael is one of the best pure boxers currently active.

being defensive minded isn't the biggest characteristic that makes a fighter a "pure boxer".

you must have missed the rest of their careers...especially Marquez. theyve both been competing at the top level for a long time and been fighting a variety of fighters.

I wouldnt put them above Mayweather, Pacquiao or Calzaghe because they arent quite as accomplished. but everyone else is up to debate, and they sure as hell deserve to be over guys like Hatton and Pavlik and even Hopkins at this point. I havent seen Hopkins win in two years and hes mostly only been competing with such skilled people because of his ring smarts, not his boxing skills. hes just too old to use most of them at this point...but he ets by with what he does have.

            besides, he said hes retired.
