In regards to racists on the thread

Ignore those *******s and keep rooting for black fighters. It doesn't mean you're a racist at all.

A racist is someone who hates people of a certain race or nationality. There are a few racists here who hate all Latin fighters, or all white fighters, or all black fighters. Every time a fighter of that race they hate wins, they'll discredit him and try to prove he's really no good.

But your rooting for black fighters because you're black is not at all racist, it's only natural! To love your own race or nationality is okay, it's just hate for other races or nationalities that's not.

Your trying to rationalize that it's ok to prefer white fighters.

Being a racist is someone who supports racism, hate is only a part of it. If your hiring for a job and you choose a white person over a black or latino person because you feel more comfortable with them, that's racist plain and simple. Hate didn't even come into the equation but it's still racist nonetheless.

Tell me this, what is it that you have on common with white fighters that makes you want to support them other than skin color?

when i put a fight on i dont even make the distinction of who is white and who is black i just watch the fight and if i do route for anyone it is the guy who is more entertaining

I would get madder if someone labeled me a racist as a boxing fan than it they did in real life. I simply don't watch boxing with any racial or national agenda, and I lose respect for anyone who obviously does. Believe it or not, you can root for Wladimir Klitschko to beat Tony Thompson and still be patriotic to America. Our country really can survive the setback and still be great.

I think it's ridiculous to suggest someone is racist based on who they root for. I notice when I go to fights, all the black people are rooting for the black fighters. Do you consider them to be racist? Why is there a double standard?

We live in a free country and so we are free to root for whoever we want. I honestly don't root for fighters based on race, but I'm aware it may seem like that sometimes.

I root for fighters who have courage, good sportsmanship, are law-abiding outside the ring, don't trash talk about their opponents, don't use dirty tactics like head-butts inside the ring, and don't whine and make excuses when they lose. If there tends to be more Latin and white fighters who have those qualities, then that should explain why I root more for them. There are some black fighters like Shane Mosley who have those qualities so I root for him, and some white fighters like Charlie Zelenoff who do not, so I hope he loses.

So if Mosley ever fights Zelenoff, I'll be rooting for Shane.

Roy Jones Jr is one of my all time favourites along with Ali, Lewis, Leonard etc. Out of the modern boxers I like Witter, Gayweather, Lacy, Haye, Dawson, Johnson, Taylor and countless others yet people think I'm a racist.
