Larry though gave him mad props for the N'dou and Gatti fights. I remember Merchant comparing Floyd to a shark, that **** he was saying that floyd was like a fish in water and sometimes that fish is a shark was great. The best simile I've heard from Larry, so far.

something better to note would be the horrific translations by Ray Torres in those interviews

Not too many of the old school guys like Mayweather. He's nothing like the fighters in the 70s and 80s that'll clean out divisions and fight the best in their weight class and weightclasses above. He goes for the weaklinks of the division, beats them, moves up, repeat.

I heard Julio Cesar Chavez got mad at Merchant once because Torres was doing the wrong translation, I think it was the DLH Fight.

Were they not all linear champions in their respective divisions?

You really ought to just completely ignore Merchant. He hates any fighter who doesn't wade in chin first and throw punches with utter abandon. However, Mayweather is probably the fighter I'd vote "Least likely to be exciting" in any division. His refusal to take any risks whatsoever is what will keep him from being spoken of in the same sentence with names like "Sugar Ray Leonard" 20 years down the road.

to be honest he has the right to be biased!
Floyd has done nothing but harm the sport of boxing!
