THIS is MY View on MMA vs BOXING. AREE/DISAGREE???

MMA is more consistantly entertaining, while a great boxing match is more exciting then a great MMA match.

Let me put it this way.

You take a list of 100 Boxing matches and a list of 100 MMA matches. The matches range from 4 rounds bum fights to Castillo-Corrales. And the MMA list ranges from joe shmoe who packs groceries for a living, all the way to Kung Lee-Shamrock or w/e, that fight was sick.

Then you take your finger and pick any one fight from either list. The chances of you picking a better MMA fight, is better. However, if you pick CASTILLO-CORRALES, then you just picked a fight that is better then every single fight on that MMA list.

For Example, IMO, Cotto-Margarito will be better then any MMA match this year.

Its just that MMA can be more exciting because they have such smaller gloves. You can see KO after KO after KO. Boxing, you have to have a real power puncher, or a mismatch, to see a brutal KO.

And with MMA, you can put two bums together and get an exciting fight. Bum fights in Boxing are sometimes thrilling, but usually mad sloppy and ugly and boring. See ZELENOFF-HARTLEY. lol

But at the end of the day, Take ANY FOTY from boxing, and its more exciting then ANY MMA match in History.

ANd there is more to boxing then just thrills. Thats why i personally like it better. you get the best of both worlds, Skills and Thrills.

Like boxing, MMA presents an inverse ratio between grappling and enjoyment. Excessive clinching in boxing bugs the hell out of me, and I tend to completely tune out on the MMA ground game. Not that I can't appreciate the skills present, its just boring as ****. Like brain surgery.

Except brain surgery is ****ing awesome and MMA wrestling sucks. Le/Shamrock had almost no grappling/wrestling, and it rocked balls.

I put disagree, only because the way I see it, to me the wrestling part of MMA is boring, but to someone else it is exciting, and in boxing, the technical fights may be boring to someone, but interesting to someone else. It really varies between every person IMO.

IMHO MMA is for people with ADD...And your right you could take 2 BUMS from the streets and fight MMA style and produce an exciting 2 MINUTE KO but in Boxing if you take 2 BUMS OFF THE STREET and make them Box and use movement and angles and how to throw straight punches and turn ur punches properly it would look ridiculous and sloppy. That's why in my eyes Boxing and MMA aren't even close in comparision....A GOOD BOXING MATCH WINS EVERY TIME

That's not a realistic perspective. That's just an opinion from a person who conciders mma to be a sub-par sport , featuring talentless bums... but who still watches it for entertainment value. In a different analogy , it's like enjoying a B movie packed with insane bloody action with cheesy dialogues...you know it sucks , but you still ****ing enjoy the hell out of it.

At least that's what i'm getting from this message.
In reality though , MMA is more than just dana white & the UFC.
And in reality , many athletes who are participating in these competitions are training just as hard if not harder than your average boxer.

In reality , most of these guys , are paid like utter **** even though they're risking all sorts of different injuries. These fighters , have to deal with wrestling , judo , muay thai , sambo , jiu jitsu and so on...Boxing is as one dimensional as it gets.

And yet , the average boxing fan watches an mma fight and will still conclude that:" those guys are just two bums who'd get koed in a boxing fight".

Or they generally also conclude that "if they're talented , then why aren't they pro boxers ? why aren't they aiming for a sport which pays better money" ?

Obviously , 99% of the guys that you see in mma will never look as crisp , accurate and technical with their punches as a floyd mayweather.

But the very same thing is equally correct when the roles are reversed.
Mayweather would look like utter **** under an ADCC competition. The guy would get ****d in no time by the likes of Arona , Aoki , Alvarez etc..

So why bother and say: "these guys don't know how to box" ? No ****!
They have to deal with so many different things at the same time that they can't just be ultra specialised in one particular discipline like boxers do.

There's no ref to seperate the fighters during the clinch. Instead , there's either a takedown or a brutal knee to the stomach , or a submission , choke etc...

They're paid like ****. Not all of them though. Some are millionaires. (rare but some are)...But yes , it's a real problem. Most are paid like **** but does money makes you superior ?

Paris Hilton is rich as **** , doesn't make her smarter than Richard dawkins does it ?

So why ? just why are some practicing all these different disciplines ? Because it's what they do. They love it and they're getting paid for it. A solid 90% of these guys don't even have amateur boxing records. Why ? Because they're instead training in judo , sambo ,greco roman wrestling , kickboxing etc...They're not even "rejects" of boxing.

They just chose a different path. The same logic can be applied for pretty much anything. If all those "boxers" are such great athletes , why not try Soccer instead ? Should be an easy sport right ?

Soccer players are millionaires so why not ? you don't even have to deal with any injuries (at least not as much as you'd have to in boxing) + it's the cheapest ****ing sport on the planet. Any kid can play it. It's watched by billions. (that's right ,even the superbowl is a small event when compared to the world cup)..

I personally find soccer to be boring as ****. I also find a huge portion of boxing fights to be rather disappointing (even though i'm never complaining whenever there's a good fight on tv, it's just that if we're honest about it...there's a quasi equal amount of ****ty fights in boxing too).

There's real , genuine talents in mma too. Legit ones.
Lindland for example , won a silver medal in greco wrestling in the 2000 sydney olympic games.

Pawel Nastula (who participated in some mma competitions 2 years ago) , is a gold judo medalist , a mutli world champ , even had a "record of +312 wins in a row over a period of 1220 days". A real talent in his discipline.

Yoshida , (past prime but sometimes fight in mma ) won gold in the 1992 olypic games

Fedor emelianenko , (sambo champion and undefeated since 1997) also participates in MMA competitions.

Some find mma to be an interesting way to win money or just to be tested...That's why tons of wrestlers find mma to be an ideal discipline , because they can used wrestling to their advantage. (in boxing that would be impossible )...

That's also true. and that's the beauty of mma. You can take a past prime boxing legend such as Ray Mercer and have his ass brutally owned in less than a minute by a bum from the street. (Kimbo slice).

But Kimbo is actually training now and he's taking this mma career of his seriously. Even Bas Rutten is his mentor and personal trainer.

I remember some boxing fans were disgusted by it. (so was I actually)..some were even saying things like "kimbo was cheating".."kimbo didn't have the balls to fight standing"...etc..

the reality is that in mma , you're not forced to fight under one dimensional rules. You have to use the best gameplan to win. and if the gameplan demands you to go to the ground in order to avoid getting knocked out by a boxing veteran...than so be it.

                  I agree with this.

but Zelenoff vs hartley was pretty exciting because of the hype of wanting to see charlie lose.... because apart of the reason why ufc is exciting is the build up and hyped anticipation...boxing can hype up any fight and people will get hyped. they used to do that in the 70s and 80s thats why people enjoyed the fights and talked about it at work to debate the decision.

                    I disagree...

the matchmaking for UFC ppv undercards is better than the matchmaking for Boxing ppv undercards.
