Neither Malignaggi nor Hatton looked great by any means...

    Terrible fights performances.

Granted i give hatton a pass since it was his first fight after coming off his only loss (a knockout loss at that) and malignaggi for the hair incident and the fact his right hand is/appears to be fractured.

However i expected more from each.

I scored the Malignaggi fight 7 rounds to 5 rounds for malignaggi (115-113).

Paulie made the fight much harder than it had to be...early on i was impressed by him letting his hands go against ndou and actually buzzing him a couple times and also impressed malignaggi took those shots well to the chin and recovered quickly after each on...The body shots also were a pleasant surprise. he also fought better on the inside than i expected he would.

However this hair is his own fault and i understand he was trying to be funny but it could have really cost him; good move my his corner in cutting it off.

Credit is deserved for Ndou; he fought paulie MUCH better this time around...picking shots better...making him fight inside; roughing him up; etc.

Paulie should have also kept on that jab.

On to hatton's fight against lazcano...

i think the ref did a TERRIBLE job overall...gave too many warnings to each fighter when he should have started deducting points. Completely unfair to both fighters...I also didnt like the shoe incident either...hatton was hurt and noticed his shoe untied to he used it to his advantage and while i think the shoe needed to be tied you dont stop the fight and what could have been a dramatic change of momentum to tie the shoe...bad call...took WAY too much time away.

However hatton made a decent comeback from his only loss and really rough housed lazcano all over the ring; he shots were a bit wide early but he fought well none-the-less...lazcano also impressed me by taking to the champ...he hurt him a few times (all with left hooks i believe) and really did better than the england judges think. i personally scored the fight 116-112 for hatton.

i thought lazcano was overlooked by the judges and the announcers...while hatton clearly won the rounds i gave him they were quite close in the rounds i awarded to lazcano my reason for giving those rounds i did to lazcano is because he changed the pace and would either hurt hatton or land the more meaningful shots...lazcano slipped/blocked more punches than he was credited for.

I think the malignaggi v. hatton fight needs to wait now because neither looks to be at their full potential. just two fights again malignaggi was on the top of his game (the first ndou fight) and against castillo hatton looked top notch.

i think they both need to make adjustment and possibly one more fight inbetween or otherwise i dont think we'll be getting as good a fight as we're expecting.

I think all 4 fighters deserve credit...they all showed a lot of heart.
Working...
