Modified rules in boxing on ESPN?

    WTF!

Doctor steps up? Takes his time to check on fighters?

        Nah, it wasn't ESPN's doing.

Whenever there is a fight that is neither a title fight or a title eliminator (basically, a fight that the sanctioning bodies have no interest in), they revert to whatever state they are in and use their rules.

Forrest-Quartey used the New York State Athletic Commission's rules for their bout.

All the matches tonight were under the Rhode Island State Athletic Commission if I remember correctly.

The doctor was being overinvolved though, even if he was/is allowed to stop the fight.

I agree. The doctor can check between rounds. If there is that much perceived danger that a fighter needs to be examined immediately, the fight should be stopped. If you have a doctor giving a hurt hometown fighter a lengthy exam during a round, that leaves room for a lot of su****ion.

Didn't someone almost die on ESPN recently? I heard something about a fight that should've been stopped but wasnt.
