Hatton: "A Mayweather Rematch Will Break all Records"

Ricky Hatton has a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on the brain. He returns tomorrow night against Juan Lazcano at the City of Manchester Stadium, and 55,000 fans are expected to pack the house to support his first bout since being stopped by Mayweather in ten-rounds last December. Should Hatton win, he would face IBF junior welterweight champ Paulie Malignaggi (who fights on the undercard) in the fall. [details]

136,000 saw Chavez fight in the third largest stadium in the world. Unless wembley gets an extra 40,000 seats over night its not happening...

No the article mentioned that I think he meant in terms of price of ticket sales.

        Have to reread it though

ah yer that's true but still, 136,000 s a tough number to beat. On ticket sales I can see it being the biggest. I mean how much was the fight 15 years ago in mexico lol? Probs not very much in GBP.

Also if Hatton has this anywhere else than Wembley he's a ****.

Croke park holds 84,000 and has a huge pitch, so it could probably hold more than Wembley for a boxing match. Around 110,000 thousand, but im not travelling to Ireland...Wembley all the way.
