Is Calzaghe a Top 25 Fighter in the last 30 Years?

Ps, you still havent told the adjustsments the "master of in ring adjustments" made against hopkins.
Other than throwing alot more punches, most of which didnt land.Comment

He did it about three times against Hopkins, trouble was Hopkins kept doing it back. Off the top of my head I'd say the moment when Joe shortened his punches so as to land them before Hopkins grabbed a hold of him was the decisive moment of the fight.Comment

he shortened and tightened up his punches getting closer before throwing. Distance is a huge part of boxing and Calzaghe adjusted his spacing to take advantage of bernards reluctance to throw first and his own susceptibility to being countered well when throwing harder shots from further out.
You're in prime "non-listening" mode recently T_S. You could learn from guys like Clegg and badger on this thread, but I doubt you will.Comment

But you can have the bit about shortening punches, he landed about 4 times on hopkins the entire fight and had no answer to what hopkins was doing. The one time calzaghe came up against a fighter who could not only defend his attack but keep him resetting himself over again so he couldnt fire that instictive sporadic stuff he throws, and he had little answer.
His only real answer to hopkins in that fight was to throw as many punches as possible, landing or not and hope the decision went his way.
His timing was way off apart from a couple of good left hands, and the punches were wide, slapping, and off target, he couldnt cope with a guy who could move out of range at the key moments. He got hit hard, hurt in round 7 when trying to throw three slaps and got countered hard. Round one was another example.
Now thats the truth, his first fight against a defensive boxing specialist, and even at 43 he took calzaghe to boxing school and made him look like a ****ing amatuer.
That is not the sign of a top 25 fighter over the last 30 years.Comment

You're plain wrong, I saw well over a hundred punches land. He won the fight comfortably on my card 115-112 and Hopkins was exhausted for the second half of the fight. He didn't perform brilliantly but he won which as you say elsewhere, is "everything".
If you're a defensive boxer you've got to understand that you get points for landing not for 'mov(ing) out of range at the key moments'. I appreciate a defensive fighter like Floyd or sweet pea because they outland their opponents but Hopkins simply didn't.
I'm not really in the mood to debate with you fella because you haven't grown up one bit in your time on this site. You have some intelligence but you do next to **** all with it and are instictively individualist. Hope it works out for you.Comment

Hopkins stunk out the fight, you don't have to be young to do that. IF hopkins did anything other than hit and hold he would have got destroyedComment

Seriously Optimus, you know how you saw calzaghe land 'Well over a hundred punches' on hopkins, do you see dead people underneath your bed at night as well?
For your sake, i really hope so.Comment
