The simple truth is that Cotto is a more like able "figure". He is easier to accept and be a fan of than Floyd. The more extreme and devoted Floyd fans aren't content with that and there for nit pick at Cotto's persona and career. Aside from his glove's run ins with other fighter's private areas, there isn't much to dislike.

He doesn't disrespect his opponents.
He has a fan friendly style.
He works hard.
He is a devouted family man.

Now, if any serious person who calls themself a "boxing fan" says they dislike Cotto because he does not want to behave outside of himself like Mayorga or Mayweather, then they should re-evaluate what the definition of "boxing fan" is.
