    Gamboa vs. Jimenez looked like...

Dawson vs. Adamek IMO. Dawson won every round, just like Gamboa, except for the rounds that they caught in, and went down.

Dawson stepped up against a great fighter in Glen Johnson, and his defense was almost the death of him.

Could that happen to Gamboa when he steps in against an established badass?

I still have Dawson losing that fight against Glen Johnson.. 115-113 for Johnson.

That was only Gamboa's 10th fight, I want to see him improve before taking another step up in competition.

Dawson wasn't particularly hurt either against Adamek. When Gamboa faces someone more accurate with more power, he is going to be hurting if he keeps this no blocking defense **** up.

I was completely and 100% unimpressed by Gamboa's power. That much hand speed and pop to his punches, but even when sitting down on them I wasn't blown away.

He clearly is going to have to be a grinding technician, content to get the decision wins if he can't do better than in the power category.

Which is another reason why his defense needs improvement, because a lack of power means he is going to have to not get his ass knocked out for 12 full rounds in almost every bout...

I actually think he has pretty good power but it requires speed and snap. He lost snap on his punches as the fight wore on, the speed was still there though. It's just another flaw to work on.

Jimenez is a tough guy and I don't think Gamboa's power should be discredited. He did batter his face by the end of the night. In addition Gamboa has a great KO track record against descent competition.

Yes. Gamboa's defense, at this stage, is awful. If he went in with a established fighter at this point he would KOd for sure.
