  • My input of floyd mayweather and why he wont loose to Miguel Cotto.

I know alot of people dont like mayweather but to be honest he wont get beat. Let me rephrase that he probably wont get beat. Actually the fight between him and Cotto wont even be close. Diego Corrales was a much more dangerous fighter than cotto was and mayweather took him to school.

Let me break down why cotto wont do good against mayweather. First Cotto is going stay infront of floyd the whole fight and for a defensive guy like mayweather thats exactly what he wants. Mayweather is probably the greatest fighter inside the pocket and with cotto style and lack of experience i dont see him doing good at all. Also i really think mayweathers speed and quickness gives cotto alot of problems like zab did in the first round of there fight. Zab didnt have the defense and discipline of floyd and thats why he lost.

Floyd is gonna shutdown cotto and counter him all night. So for those hoping on cotto shutting floyd mayweather up i got bad news for you its not gonna happen.

I think Cotto is a more complete fighter than Corrales was, but yea Corrales was very dangerous. Also, Cotto's a good boxer, he can move in and out and take angles. He won't just stand in front of Floyd and let him potshot all night. He can work as sledgehammer jab and place his punches well, especially to the body. Cotto has good handspeed, but more importantly, especially in a fight with Mayweather, has great timing and accuracy. As far as experience, Cotto's been in there with some good competition, and add Margarito to the list. If he stays on track, by the time they fight, he will have enough experience. This isn't as clear a pick as you think. I do think Mayweather can get away with a decision, but it won't be easy at all. It'll be a very tough fight for him. The longer Floyd waits, the less of a chance he will have to beat Cotto.

with that said to beat floyd you have to have to fight a smart disciplined fight. There are only two guys who i can see beating floyd and that winky wright and bernard hopkins. I can see winky getting to 154 and some how floyd being ****** enough to take him on at that weight. It wont be a problem for winky since he is currently at 160 and has to body to loose 6 more pounds with out it affecting his speed and power. Winky has the discipline, defense, patience, experience and skills to beat mayweather and im willing to bet a **** load of money that if they faced off he will.

Bernard on the other hand can IMO get to 154. He would be in the same boat as roy jones jr a few years back if he did that so i cant say i see it happening. THat and the fact that he is 43 and its too much on his body. But like winky he has the skills and experience to not get outboxed by floyd and the power to KO him. If bernard didnt chase tarver and stayed at his 160 weight he could have dropped to 154 seing he fought trinidad at 157 and de la hoya at 156. His whole MW career he has been fighting around 158.

only problem with these two senerios, which lead to me believing floyd will retire undefeated, is hopkins cant drop that much weight and be affected especially at his age. He would have to gradually do it and he would have the time since his career is coming to an end. Winky can defiantly get down to 154 but only way it happens is if floyd is dumb enought to fight at 154. Floyd body cant put on that much weight and be affective. He barely was at 150 for the dela hoya fight.

with that said. Floyd easily beats cotto. Cleans up the WW division and finishes undefeated pissing alot of haters off. I like floyd and hope he goes out on top.

No way Hopkins can make 154, he said himself he starved himself to make 160. 154 would kill him.

Cotto would present a bigger challenge than a weight drained Corrales. He has better defense, has a better jab and I think he is improving with every fight.

Cotto's jab would be a very good punch against Mayweather and he is also a very good body puncher, arguably the best body puncher in boxing right now.

Im not a floyd homer but cotto is probably gonna be lucky to win more than 2 rounds. Plus Zab exposed cotto a lil with his speed and quickness. Yeah cotto has the skills but im questioning his patience and ring discipline. I give you an analogy to help explain what im talking about. Fight floyd is the ultimate game of chess where you have to be very smart, patient and discipline. He will fustrate 90% of fighters into making mistakes and then thats when he picks them apart . The only fighters in the game with the ability to beat floyd are hopkins, wright, and roy jones jr. All of which are no were near his weight class. Cotto will have to outbox floyd which you and i know wont happen. I can count of my hand the amount of times floyd has been hit cleanly with a power shot in his entire career.

I've never given any new poster green karma, despite him making a lot of sense.

As far as your posts, Corrales is a decent comparison to Cotto, but they're obviously not carbon copies of one another. Cotto has a better skill set overall, but same premise does apply to their fight.

That's what I thought too. That's some fast reddening.
