I'm flabbergasted as to who will win Cotto or Marg

Alright people call me a flipflopper because after watching the press conference I switched predictions again and now think Marg will win... He makes Miguel look every bit the Hobbit. I'm depressed. I want Cotto to win badly. I'm gonna go cry by myself in a corner in a fetal position. When I'm done I'll come back and check on this thread. Who do you think will win and why Detailed Discussion and also put down if you've switched predictions as I have like 19 times already...

its a pick em fight, Cotto can win if he fights the perfect fight, the question is what does Miguel do when he does get cracked and hurt? does he try to pay Tony back or does he play it safe and move away and regain his witts?
Cotto can win by simply using an in and out method, get in run off your shots and get back out, but not in range to get hit, he must get all the way out so that Tony hits air rather than MC.
if Cotto does this he can win the fight, but he must leave temptation to brawl at home seriously he almost has to fight a boring fight to win.
Margarito well he has to push Cotto back most of the time when Cotto has been hurt it was when the other guy was on the attack, Margarito must press the gas early and get Cotto on them ropes and just let his hands go.
I really think Margarito will win, but I aint sleeping on Cotto he has shown improvement in moving up to welter weight.
However I cant really call it usally what we get the night of the fight is not what we expect leading up to the fight.

The size definately won't be an advantage as far as I can tell. Guys like Cotto just fight harder and put more into their shots when they're facing a bigger guy. In that sense I think it actually helps Cotto.

I am taking Cotto in this one, HOWEVER, I think this is a sort of fight where both fighters can make each other look bad.

I don't see why there is even a question of who will win. Bob Arum's sole purpose for Antonio Margarito was to build him up against C level fighters and then feed him to one of his top Welters. Arum is a great promoter, so I guess its not too hard to believe that people actually bought into Marg being a good fighter. But this is a sacrifice if there ever was one. Cotto is going to outclass, overpower and all around destroy Margarito. People will be amazed that he won so convincingly, all while Arum is in the background laughing that they didn't realize Margarito is nothing more than a glorified sparring partner. Cotto will dominate. Not because he's a world beater, but because Margarito is a friggin bum.

I don't know if I'd go quite as far as Horseman. However...Margarito's sole advantage in this fight may be his chin, that's all he MIGHT have on Cotto.

But what happens if Cotto takes Margarito's best shot and holds his ground? What then? Margarito's got nothing left to fall back on.

Cotto's a better boxer in every category. He has more skill and speed. He's got better footwork than Margarito. Plus, he's got a much better jab.

What's Margarito got over than Cotto, a chin? maybe?

All that means is he'll probably get beat up over 12 rounds instead of getting knocked out.

If Boxing wasn't a long road of twists and turns that might make sense. The idea that Arum would build up Margarito just to feed him to Cotto doesn't fit. Margarito is not yet a star and doesn't have a significant fanbase. He's got 5 losses. What will be the commercial value of beating Margarito? Most people already agree Margarito gets massively devalued in a loss to Cotto. You make it sound like Margarito's entire career is based on cashing in on one fight.

Margarito has a potential market of millions and millions of Mexican fight fans. If Arum was going to feed Cotto an opponent from his stable why not Joshua Clottey? Clottey has no fanbase, he has no market potential at all in the US or elsewhere really. Why not serve him?

Ok, let's say Clottey somehow beat Cotto - then what do you have? A huge fanbase in Ghana??

Now, if Margarito beats Cotto - then what do you have? A huge fanbase in Mexico? Yep, that's right.

Let's not miss the fact that the press tour started in Mexico, has a Spanish language title, and the glaring detail that Bob Arum spent most of his time talking about Mexican PPV and TV broadcasts at the taped press conference. This is a no brainer. If Cotto loses to Margarito his loyal fanbase will remain intact. Cotto is already a star. Why would he crash Margarito? To lose money? If Margarito wins he has two Welterweight stars. One in the East, and one in the West. There are millions $$$ of reasons. Millions.

Jotto has no chance ...I can't believe these Jotto fans who say that Jotto will ko Margarito eventhough Jotto was unable to ko mosley and Malinaggi...I mean MALINAGGI!!!!!!....where is his so called ko power..his brutal power body shots....he hit malinaggi with clean shots and cracked his jaw but malinaggi continued fighting....he was never truly hurt in the fight...and if these Jotto nut lickers believe that malinaggi comes from the planet krypton and is incapable of being hurt...that is some funny stuff...Ndou hurt malinaggi in their fight and dazed him something Jotto couldn't do....I can't wait for Margarito to uppercut and body punch Jotto to death..Jotto will give a "no mas" in the second round....easy fight to call......
