Roach Stumped on Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito Winner

It is indeed a tough pick. My personal feeling is that Cotto will get a close UD or SD and admit it was by far the toughest fight of his career. Margarito, if his track record is any indication, will be very upset over the decision. I don't see either guy getting KOed, although the damage each takes may cause trouble for them down the road, particularly for Cotto.

If i could get some Cotto full fights i would make a prediction. As i am i can't. I'll tell you this though, this fight depends more on what Cotto does than on what Margarito does, "lucky" punches apart (including liver shots). If Cotto tires he's done, but he knows that so he will try to be either very economical in the early fight (plan A is then outboxing Margarito). If he does this well throughout the whole fight that will be it for Margarito, he can't win. He he fails to outbox Margarito early (as i suspect he will) he will give his all to try and end it fast showing some heart. His window closes here though and it's Margarito's fight should Cotto fail the TKO. The third scenario i see is Cotto begin the fight outboxing Margarito but tiring in the late rounds. This is the most likely scenario and that's what Roach is thinking too. It can go either way depending on what round Cotto runs out of gas and how good is his defense (hints from Mosley hitting Cotto very easily when he was going back at 36 years of age). Maybe Cotto UD, Maybe Margarito UD if he does enough and Cotto's defense sucks.

Im a fan of both truthfully, cotto can win if he boxes and doesnt tire, marg can win if he catches clean shots on cotto and hurts him.
Bottom line is that the winner will be the one that can TAKE the most punishment and still perform convincingly they will both hurt eachother bad throuought the fight

Yep...

the only people who have a hard time picking a winner are the cotto fans. they want to cheer for there favorite fighter but they also know that cotto is facing a true welterweight for the first time. he is facing a man that has true welterweight power and towers above him and of course they know margarito is a man with no regard for human life. all the real boxing fans already are picking margarito because they know cotto is getting knocked out.

I think you're right. I'm a Cotto fan but I'm not putting anything on this fight money-wise because it's hard to say which way it will go.

From what I've seen, Cotto's skills have improved with each fight, so hopefully he continues that into this fight and continue to tailor is game for the opponent and improve himself.

Can't say that Cotto will get knocked out though. I don't think either will get knocked out. A TKO may happen and it could happen to either fighter.
