They are saying they don't need someone to teach Gamboa up, they need someone stern who will keep him focused and disciplined. That's why they didn't need a trainer that was a high profile as Joy Sr.
His promoter is the one who fired the trainer, do you really think the his promoter would put Gamboa with Mayweather Sr, knowing how close Sr. is to Oscar. Golden Boy Promotions would be all over Gamboa and im sure thats the last thing his current promoter wants.
