All this talk about Mayweather and Cotto what about De lay Hoya?

Now I know this thread will get laughed at but dont you think that this is De La Hoya's Coup De Grace? I mean he still is a good fighter that was once one of the best in the world. Floyd has been out of the ring and has been living the life at the same time. I am not saying that De la Hoya wins but we all know that one punch can win a fight and you know that De la Hoya is gonna come in with a better game plan than he had in the first contest. I also think he looked better against Ford than he did in his first Floyd fight. Remember guys what Sugar Ray did gainst Hagler in his last real fight. He was not counted in, same goes for Ali-Foreman. I think De la Hoya is a special person, not even fighter and Floyd has shown he is a special fighter not person. I give Oscar more of a chance than most do already going nuts over Cotto-Mayweather. Lets see what happens....

DLH has the ability to win and I agree he looked good against Forbes but I didn't see much against Forbes that made me think he would win, I do think that fight will be closer though.

Your thread title says it all...

      What about De La Hoya?

Nothing against him personally but **** his couch.

      Just fight Cotto and retire.

Don't waste our time getting ****ed up by Floyd again.

He did not get ****ed up man and if he kept his jab rate up through 12 he would have won. If he jabs as much as he did against Ford he will win...

The real question is whether Floyd will be man enough and stpe up to the Hayemaker. We all know Wlad will duck Haye until his knee's start to ache but Mayweather is the real ***** for never fighting Tyson.

Bigger upsets have happened in boxing, so nothing should ever be taken for granted. It is true that Mayweather currently exhbits all the signs of the champion about to be knocked off his perch. All his celebrity shenanigans and inactivity are hardly helping to be a better fighter are they?

However, I don't think Oscar De La Hoya would have beaten Mayweather even in his prime, so I seriously doubt that todays version will be able to turn the clock back and deliver a performance to beat Floyd hands down. To win Oscar will need Mayweather to screw up badly. You only need to look at one of Oscar's old fights to see how far the 2008 version has slid.

i believe strongly that mayweater could have beaten DLH much worse but chose to do only enough to win because it would make a big money rematch a viable option.

I agree..Its gonna take a Floyd misstep. But IMO he is nearing that type of situation with all the hoopla. It is so hard to make it to the top, it is even harder staying their.

And Evil I agree totally, we all want to see cotto-floyd but I want to see Cotto-margarito just as much. I think they match up AMAZINGLY!

To be honest who gives a **** about de la hoya, nothing against the guy he's a great fighter but he should retire and let the younger fighters battle it out. I feel that Mayweather would of faced Cotto this year but because of De la hoya it won't happen. The rematch is my opinion is pointless, everyone knows the result will be Mayweather UD.
