85% of decamillionaires in the United States (people worth $10 million or more), polled by multiple financial magazines stated that they never made a decision about a career or job based on the paycheck. They did it when they knew it would lead to a sense of purpose, and accomplishment. In fact, in many situations, they refused salaries of nearly double what they were making to take something that motivated them to be the best at what they do. They were willing to take the risk so long as the reward was a sense of purpose and accomplishment; not money.

These are people who built fortunes with intelligent planning. In fact, less than 15% of the world's wealthiest people inherited their fortunes or earned a 6-7 figure a year salary. That's another topic though...

Mayweather can't say this, because he refuses to do what it will take to be the most accomplished. He simply won't fight the best. He'll fight for the money. He doesn't truly love what he does. He even claims he's tired and bored of boxing after every fight. He never wanted to be the best. He only wanted to make money, fight safe fights, and take on legends when they are on the way down.

He will never be the greatest because that's not what he wants to be. He talks a big talk, but it's all a cover for his cowardice.

That is the best comment yet. I don't begrudge him the money but can we move it up a bit to move the real cards closer.

If it makes money, it makes sense.

even though im a floyd fan.....let it be know im a realist, with that said i completely agree that if floyd ducks cotto his legacy will be tainted.....and tainted legacies are often forgotton.....i mean if he retires now the best fighter he fought would have been a old de la hoya....what kind of **** is that???

but for 25 mil.....i wouldnt pass that **** up, i'd fight em as many times as he wants lol

i think it it is unfair to judge a fighter (mayweather) because he wont fight the fighters we want him to. floyd will fight cotto and defeat him, he is just allowing the hype to build with cotto. after cotto defeats margarito, then mayweather can fight cotto and his legacy will definitely be secure. cotto and mayweather have fought fighters way past their primes (oscar, mosley and judah).. who else is out there but margarito????? the welterweight division is weak, there is only "old" talent there.
we also have to remember oscar is calling floyd out for the rematch, he would be a fool not to take that money. i know mayweather, we fought together at the 96' trials and all he talked about was being a world champion and the best fighter in the world. back then you could see the talent, even though he didn't win the gold, he was the best fighter on the team. he has proven it now.
let me tell you, MONEY CHANGES THINGS AND PEOPLE. it easy for people in these forums to talk about him be greedy, but i know nobody on here has seen the kind of money mayweather is making or accomplished what he has in only 10 years
