I don't hate him I just don't get him. I read threads every day about Margarito this, Margarito that but very rarely do I see threads of the same type about Vazquez or Marquez brothers. Margarito appears to be an anti-hero more than anything else. He's not especially gifted, doesn't seem to have a great personality, he hasn't really achieved anything and doesn't appear to have the kind of charisma you would normally associate with such a popular character. I appreciate the Mexican mentality of supporting your own but I'm still left puzzled as to why Margarito is worthy of special attention when it seems there are other more deserving guys out there.




When I think of the Mexican spirit I think of a come forward fighter who is prepared to go into the trenches and walk back out no matter what happens. Margarito is certainly a come forward fighter but I have never seen him in a real battle and I think the other guys mentioned all outstrip him in that department.



What you say here kind of backs up my point about him being an anti-hero, his popularity is more to do with his lack of endearing characteristics than it is his possession of them.

So because you don't see as many threads about Marquez's or Vasquez right now, Margarito is automatically higher than them in the view of most Mexicans? Sorry but that doesn't mean anything. And the reason there are so many threads about Margarito right now is obviously because there is a big fight in the works that will put two warriors from different countries against each other in what many know it will be a great fight. Not too long ago you couldn't find a single Margarito supporter among the sea of Floyd fans and others who would instantly discredit him as nothing more than a bum.

Also you said that Margarito does not embody the Mexican spirit of being a come forward fighter that will give it his all in there ring. Yet by your own admission you say that you don't actually know if he does because you have never seen him challenged like that.

I personally believe I have but regardless you can not say someone does not have something if it has not been checked, correct?

And lastly, you must have read into my last paragraph incorrectly, because he does have endearing characteristics. He is tough as nails, comes forward and always appears to leave everything he has in the ring. What else would one want in a hero? As for his charisma he is actually a really likable guy. He isn't out there flashing his bills as symbol of his worth, talking through his teeth lying, or beating his wife. The guy is approachable, and he will tell you how he feels straight and simple. He doesn't have huge entourage of gang ****ers and other lowlifes.

Mexican fighters keep coming up and up...kicking every puerco rican .filipenis and anyone inbetweens butts...Here comes Angulo and Mares and Arreola and David rodriguez and chavez jr and mijares and luevano and solis and guerrero and etc....we can go on forever....they all talk tough until they get in the ring....and some only fight the old to try to claim greatness (ex pac)....They will always be mexican fighters to root for because they fight the world....it's either the mexican puerco rican rivalry or the so called filipenis rivalry or american mexican rivalry or the african mexican rivalry....or the south american mexican rivalry or the japanese mexican rivalry...and still mexicans end up with most of the belts.....damn impressive....

Once HW heats up, we'll be talking about Arreola. Tony is our representative in the hotbed of WWs. Just how legit is a sub-Middleweight class if you can't point and say " That's the best Mexican fighter " and he's not in the top ten.

but in reality mexicans root for any mexican warrior but threads about the lower weights here go without much attention so the spotlight is on margarito, yes he is not the best mexican fighter but he is tough, entertaining,brave and is a great representative in the boxing war between mexico vs pr
