    GAMBOA's TRAINER was FIRED!!!

Excellent call. Going from the amatuers to a title in 15 pro fights is to much for some ditsy coach to handle.

He NEEDS to work on his defense, and stop throwing pitty pat punches like he did in the amauers, and start putting some pop behind his shots.

    FROM: http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...ory?id=3401891

Gamboa, who won a gold medal for the Cuban boxing team at the 2004 Olympic Games, had to earn his 10-round decision over Jimenez. Gamboa got too ****y and Jimenez dropped him in the fourth round, causing more than a few anxious moments in his corner. After the fight Gamboa's promoter, Ahmet Öner of Arena Boxing, fired Gamboas' trainer, Osmiri Fernandez, in the dressing room.

"Gamboa knows everything about boxing. He doesn't need somebody to teach him boxing," Öner said. "He needs someone he can respect as his trainer and someone to teach him to respect his opponents. He needs someone he will listen to."

Oner said they will begin a search for a new trainer. Meanwhile, Luis De Cubas, who runs the American operation for Arena Boxing, said they want to get Gamboa back in the ring on June 27. De Cubas said he had some concerns that Jimenez would be too big a step up for Gamboa.

I'd love to see Gamboa fight every other month or so. As long as it dosent hurt him. I think his next fight on boxrec is against Jose Reyes, Chris John title challenger on espn 2. Also with the trainer thing, i wonder who they will hire. Roger Bloodworth i think would be good, Casamayor's last trainer

well, he was the best at sponging Gamboa's tongue. lol. but seriously, I think this is a good call. Ideally I'd like to see gamboa with a Mayweather, someone that can really help him with his defense.

He needs someone he can respect. I don't think he should get Floyd Sr. but I am telling you that is one dude he wouldn't dare disrespect.

Floyd Sr. with Gamboa would result in some serious personality clashes.
