..Can Anyone You Know Of Today, Match This?...

For the record, I'm not jumping all over Gamboa's ****. His hands are TOO low for a guy who can be rattled. He relies too much on reflexes, which can destroy ya career in a tough fight and in the long run. But he's an imressive young fighter. Here's my point though......

Gamboa has had 10 fights. The record of his TEN opponents when they fought him equal up to..

    369-31-6.

Most losses was 11. Least amount of was 7, twice. And both had a combined 1 loss between the two.

Can any of you think of any young fighter, who actually impresses, that has had that decent of a build up? Atleast, on paper.

Keep in mind, he has only TWO fights that went the distance. His first and last fight. And his last fight wasn't that close, lol.

ALSO, NONE of his opponents have had a losing record. The closest is 7-4-2. Which isn't HORRIBLE for that level of fighter. AND, two this day, only two opponents have/had less fights then he has, NOW.

for once; maybe twice; but no more than the third time i agree with you.

if he doesnt keep his hands up he's going to get absolutely flattened by a future opponent...

should he learn to keep his hands up he has some real natural talent/ability to give the top 130/135 fighters a run for their money...

if he does get KO'd so what? part of boxing is getting right back up and coming back even if you lose a fight. thats one of the biggest problems with boxing right now. we put so much stock on a loss that our expectations become ridiculous and we throw away any fighter with the first sign of any kind of weakness.

all i know is that if or when Gamboa gets kayod, ill still be watching his next fight.

There have been many fighters with impressive opposition from a very early stage. Kostya Tszyu, Pernell Whitaker, Jeff Fenech, etc.

People DO put too much into a loss; especially the first loss...

if cotto loses to margarito many will say he was, "exposed" even though he's beat quality competition (quality above tony in my opinion)...

katsidis lost to casamayor and they said he was exposed...

hatton lost to mayweather and they said he was exposed...

buts its not the case; hatton (for example) is DEFINATELY a world class fighter...mayweather was just the better fighter.

Gamboa has the potential to do great things if he continues on this path...a few adjustments could really send him into a good position in boxing...

at this stage of his pro career (so soon into his pro career) he's getting wins against quality competition (like Darling Jimenez)...so he's definately doing good right now...hopefully he continues to develop his skills and becomes the type of fighter we are happy to pay $50 to see in the future.

he definately cant be considered one dimensional; he can box very well yet has a very crowd pleasing style.
