    HBO; The Stars Have Risen

One of the better cards of the year easily.

I would have liked to see more of kirkland (who put away albert in just over a minute of the very first round).

Angulo/Gutierrez put on one hell of a fight...I had angulo winning every round but that doesnt tell the whole story; gutierrez made it a close fight despite that...both showed great heart and slugged it out fearlessly. Solid performance for angulo but he could definately improve.

    Gamboa v. Jimenez...

First thing that needs to be said about this fight is WOW...what a performance by gamboa...despite the knockdown i think he completely dominated Jimenez. My ONLY complaint with Gamboa is the fact he didnt keep his hands up and that was pathetic considering how talented he is and given the extremely extensive amatuer career. I've seen him fight in the past but tonight he REALLY impressed me...

excellent speed (in his hands and feet); used great body and head movement; definately has above average pop on his punches...

Other than keeping his hands up he fought nearly flawlessly.

this is only his 10th pro fight...

If he continues to develop and get better he has the potential to be a top p4p fighter in the future...Some might belive thats a bold statement to make but if he keeps this pace going (in expanding his talent and perfecting his technique/skills) he will be an absolute BEAST in his prime.

Not enough good things can be said about his performance tonight.

I give credit to all 6 fighters involved tonight; they showed heart and class...

I take back my statement that HBO doesnt put together quality fights that dont appear on PPV...because tonight definately delievered.

I am watching it now. I gotta say in the Angulo-Gutierrez fight, I was finally impressed just this once with Lewis as a commentator. Lewis noticed before anyone that Gutierrez was hurt right away and it was his fighter instincts that noticed it.

Was a good card. I hope they do this more often with B.A.D. Putting up good contender's or prospects in there with solid opponents. I was impressed with all three guys. Kirkland is a straight fighter. He throws boxing out the door and just looks to punish his opponent. Im interested to see how far he goes and if that style will eventually catch up with him.

im sure kirkland will see that it doesnt always work once he gets in there with a talented/skilled enough opponent that makes him actually work.

But tonight he pleasantly surprised me...

i was doing some cooking (and finishing up right as michael buffer announced kirkland and albert) and i was taking a bite out of my food (looking down at the plate for a moment) and next thing i know albert goes down...it was damn fast...i only took my eyes off the screen for like 3 seconds tops...haha

        pretty impressive for kirkland.

          Very good card.

Gamboa did OK, apart from him keeping his hands low, he also keeps his chin in the air when he's throwing his combinations. He got hit a bit more than I would have liked to see him hit, but he has time to make the neccessary adjustments and improvements.

Kirkland is a very exciting fighter to watch, he looks like a natural in there. And Anne Wolfe is scary.

I've watched Kirkland a few times before so I knew he was gonna come out hard so I paid attention right away. The thing was though I didn't really see his punches land that hurt Albert. Then they showed the replay and then I knew why he was hurt so bad.
