They should hold back on fast tracking him. The wrong opponent will knock his ****y ass out. Give him at least a year and another 4 or 5 fights.

His defense might not be that great, but why does it matter if no one can land a punch on him? Did you not see how he moved his body so Jiminez couldn't land most of his punches. He can work on his defense over time, for his 10th fight thats mighty impressive, and some of you are trying to act like he should be able to beat manny right now. Of course he's not ready for someone as experienced as them, but what he showed tonight was impressive. So far he is more entertaining then Floyd in my opinion and throws alot of punches, I rather an offensive fighter like Gamboa then some guy like floyd who is so defensive and dull that we barely get to see a fight.

I'm not too impressed. Slick and fast for sure... but he doesn't have a wealth of power, he doesn't really box or use his jab at all, I think somebody could decapitate him if they bothered throwing uppercuts, and he needs to learn some actual defense.

However, given the tools he has shown if he really focuses he could be the real deal.

edit: I wouldn't be shocked if in the future he would test positive for something illegal, whether it be coke or steroids. He also better move up in weight soon or get rid of a little bit of that muscle.

I think his defense is good. His problem is that he hasn't been humbled yet. He has complete disregard for his opponents, almost annoyed by their primitve skills. That's what can get him in trouble. Maybe a humbling experience or two would help his cause. Those experiences didn't help Zab though. We'll see it's his only 10th fight and is Jimenez better than Mosquera? What do you guys think?

Also, we all talk about him like he is this youthful prospect, but he is 26. Not too many years left to do his learning, especially for a fighter who relies so much on natural gifts.

                  Defense is suspect
                  Speed is spectacular ..
all he needs to do is work on his power and defense and he'll be good to go

His defense is great for amateurs though.

Based on Vicente Mosquera's win over Yoda 3K & performance against Valero, I'd have to say no. I never saw very much of Mos before that, but he came out and handled a tough mother****er in Yoda. Pretty bizarre fight, but entertaining fight with the knockdowns and antics of the fighters. The third round was excellent, as both men were hurt and both men were throwing bombs.

Mos was a better, more versatile puncher. He was also a bigger man than Jimenez. He would have given Gamboa a harder fight than Darling, I'm certain of that.
