Hello?! What Did They Wipe On Gamboa's Tounge?

Finally another person that understands what its like to have tongue gunk.i was wondering the same thing when i was watching, then i thought about it for a second and thought that it was actually a reall good idea. wiping off his tounge with a wet sponge is actually, i think, a smart idea to help rehydrate your fighter, or yourself for that matter. i was thinking what in the hell and then i thought of the times when im working out and going balls out on the bag or what not, and then afterwards when i get a sip of water to hydrate, it basically doesn't have any satisfiying effect because i have thick saliva and it's all but completely dry, wiping that off with a wet sponge, i thought, showed some real experience in the corner, it's something that works for them, and i think it might actually work well. i wouldnt' be surprised if you started seeing more of that in fighters corners............Comment

You assume I was referring to you.
If you realize this then why degrade yourself? And you assume that it has no basis in reality.Degrading to insults is the inevitable result of an argument that has no basis in reality.
Your opinion based entirely on a string of assumptions. Its how I know I have achieved victory. :-)
Not a fact. =)Comment

He relied on EXPERIENCE to come up with a reasonable explanation for what they are doing.
Your explanation for everything is cheating, so I am no surprised that you thought this was cheating also. I feel it was a good corner doing their job. Keep your fighter comfortable, and relaxed.
A fighter spending their resting time trying to get gunk off his tongue is not getting the most out of the rest period. Good work by a good corner.Comment

Tongue gunk, rehydration and performance is not related in any way.i was wondering the same thing when i was watching, then i thought about it for a second and thought that it was actually a reall good idea. wiping off his tounge with a wet sponge is actually, i think, a smart idea to help rehydrate your fighter, or yourself for that matter. i was thinking what in the hell and then i thought of the times when im working out and going balls out on the bag or what not, and then afterwards when i get a sip of water to hydrate, it basically doesn't have any satisfiying effect because i have thick saliva and it's all but completely dry, wiping that off with a wet sponge, i thought, showed some real experience in the corner, it's something that works for them, and i think it might actually work well. i wouldnt' be surprised if you started seeing more of that in fighters corners............
Everybody get tongue gunk and nasty slime during intensive workout.
But fortunately we don't use the tongue much when we box. Cleaning the tongue means **** all when it comes to rehydration.Comment

What I believe he was trying to say is that cleaning the tongue makes you want to drink less water since you are drinking water trying to clean off your tongue, it makes the water you do drink feel more refreshing. I am personally bothered by tongue gunk when I box, so I wipe my tongue on my shirt between rounds. If I didn't have the option to do so, it would be very distracting.
Without a shirt on, I am assuming I would have to rely on a trainer to do it for me much like Gamboa did.Comment

There is a tried and tested method of dealing with this. What I believe he was trying to say is that cleaning the tongue makes you want to drink less water since you are drinking water trying to clean off your tongue, it makes the water you do drink feel more refreshing. It involves water in the mouth, stirring the water and spitting in a bucket.Comment
