If Miguel Cotto beats Antonio Margarito......

let me tell you i will be the first one to call cotto not a "good" but a "great" fighter. let me explain why...

cotto has beaten 11 former/current world champions, the fighter he beats became world champions after he beat them, quintana, torres, malignaggi, etc. it just showed how good of a fighter cotto is, apart from that his wins against zab judah and sugar shane mosley were pretty impressive, say what you want but cotto proved a lot of people wrong including myself.

he has beaten the top welterweights and decent light welterweights when he fought at 140, some people consider him the best ww right now. if cotto beats margarito he is literally cleaning a division minus floyd mayweather, i know wht most of u will say beating antonio margarito does not make u great but look at his resume now, if he adds margarito to the list and beats him more impressively than williams or santos did he gets props. my question is if cotto beats margarito and dlh, and then floyd mayweather beats cotto, will that make mayweather top 5 ATG?

cotto will then have: dlh, mosley, judah, margarito, quintana, malignaggi, torres, urkal, pinto, maussa in his resume before he faced floyd

Of course, If Cotto beats Margarito people will **** all over the win.

They'll say Margarito was always a hype.. Before the loss to Williams it would have looked great on his resume. It's a retread now.. Margarito is starting to slow down as well. They might say he got softened up by all his battles and flush punches, or that he's shot..

A win for Cotto is between me and him, and for this one I don't care how he does it. A win is impressive, big time.

I would hesitate to call Cotto "great". I personally would like to see him rematch Mosley if he cant get Floyd and if he beats him again, I'd throw "great" around when discussing him.

i will say that if cotto beats margarito and either dlh or mosley II he is a HOF and a great fighter. my question is with having all those achievements and if floyd beats him when they r both undefeated, will floyd be a top 5 all time great?

If you thought of this all on your own then more power to you, but members like JoeR, Antonio, OG, Baya, Gerardofpr and others deserve their credit for being the ones to break these concepts and put them to text.

Forgive anyone for mentioing it, but fawning tributes to Cotto's resume are all the rage on the internet. Every single opponent he's ever faced has some form of name recognition now. Just the other day someone dedicated an entire thread to the Randall Bailey win.
