im not a big byrd fan but i am really curious to see this fridays fight
what he is doing is actually pretty unprecedented in modern boxing so far as i can tell.
i dont remember any career heavyweights who were world champs who stepped down not one but two weight classes.
even when RJJ fought Ruiz he only weighed 192, thats still 25-30 pounds less than byrd was scaling as a heavyComment

i look forward to that fight too. never been big on Byrd but i respect him as a fighter. the guy fought the best heavies in the division, and always looked to make the big ones.im not a big byrd fan but i am really curious to see this fridays fight

it is challenging for him because we dont know what effect that weight loss will have on him. i can say that if anyone expects him to run through light heavyweight division is in for wrong. just because he hung in there with big fellas doesnt mean he's gonna have a walk in the park with 175 pounders.
but taking the weight off wasnt a struggle for him. he usually got over the 200 pound limit by overeating, now he runs, maintains a decent caloric intake, and weight just comes off.
with roy i believe it was much more of a struggle. he had to drop some 20 pounds of muscle which he put on legit through weight lifting and conditioning. that kind of muscle usually stays on you, and you gotta work to take it off without harming yourself. roy got rid of it too fast and paid for it. i hope the same wont happen to byrdComment
