johnson is a dangerous fight for anyone at 175.

I think Johnson won the fight in that way because he gave no space to Jones. He was on him the entire time hitting to the body, uppercuts hooks. At this stage the way to defeat Jones is just to pressure him and smother him. I dont think Calzaghe will do that, he may throw a ton of punches in bunches but he'll need to be on Roy like a rash to knock him out or stop him. Its more likely that Jones tires out in the late rounds and loses a UD or SD.

Fark me Johnson was lethal back then with that extra step, and athleticism about him. I still think Johnson's 2nd to only Calzaghe at LHW. He was robbed against Dawson and with just 30% of that chasing like an animal vybe, capable of winning by UD or TKO.

Based on that vid, I think it's quite reasonable to say a prime Johnson beats prime Calzaghe easier than RJJ would, esp as Joe has a similar style and would struggle with Johnson fighting like that. IMO I'd have Calz 50/50 against RJJ, 45/55 against Johnson, he was just lethal then man.
