Though I'm an Arthur fan and was really looking forward to the fight, the most important thing for Guzman is his family and I hope for his and his mother's sake that she pulls through.

For all the people saying Alex would have got schooled, how can you say that when a punch hasn't been thrown. Okay, Guzman was favourite but strange things can happen in this sport.

As interim champ i am pretty sure he will be made full world champ.
I like Arthur but i think it is a disgrace without ever having a world class win.

If gomez batters khan (unlikely but i ****ing hope he does) then rematch with arthur!

        **** what if Gomez wins!

        (yeah i am dreaming)

Arthur is one ****ing bastard.. Guzman said he has no problem with the Visa.. Maybe Warren knows something and change the date of their bout.. Arthur can become a champion now fighting a prospect..

**** sake i was supposed to go to the Arthur fight! Typical!
Guzman is such a wasted talent, he should be a pond for pounder a long reigning world champ and have a huge fan base by now

I was really looking forward to the Arthur-Guzman fight, but then again it saved Arthur from getting embarrased.

I hope his mum gets well soon.

Nice. Is it his fault about the visa or Guzman's mums condition?

believe it or not, the nickname has more to do with his facial expressions and ringwalk resembling that of vintage Tyson, more so than his fighting style (though yes, he was a beast when at 122).

his perceived lack of power as he's moved up is, IMO, attributed more to his fighting with more finesse than ferocity. he's simply went from boxer-puncher, to master boxer through the years. The power's still there, if need be, just that he's not putting as much behind his punches in recent fights (perhaps due to the hand issues to which you earlier referred)

Yeah, it's silly to blame Arthur for any of this, especially since there's not a lot of upside to his collecting a vacant title. Sure, he's now a champ, but the most desired fight (Scott Harrison) is out due to Harrison's inability to get licensed (and rightfully so). And with 130 thinning out by the day, not like there's a ton of cash to be made for Arthur at every turn.

Win, lose or draw, the Guzman fight would've given him decent profile. There's no shame in losing to someone like Joan (other than having to admit to losing to a guy named Joan, LOL), and an upset win forever silences most, if not all, critics.

Don't get it twisted - the Visa issue and his mom are NOT reasons why this fight was canceled.

The visa issue was something that Guzman said was a non-issue, the holdup was for ONE DAY which meant he would have arrived in Scotland one day later then originally planned, which was still about 10+ days prior to the fight.

What happened was first, Frank Warren's website posted saying Arthur got hurt, then an hour later they removed the article, and said that because of Guzman's visa problem the fight will be delayed. There was in fact no reason for the delay. Lots of shady **** occurred on Arthur's side.

Then Guzman was left waiting and waiting and waiting to get the new date, which never happened obviously and basically he said **** it and vacated the belt rather than continue playing these games with Warren.

There is no question in my mind that Warren used these tactics to buy time and/or get the fight called off entirely. Arthur would have been schooled by Guzman without a doubt and everyone knows it.
