Castillo touched him up a lot in there fight and had some spotty success touching floyd in there rematch at 135

This is mythical match up and when you do this you have to take into account how floyd faired against the best pressure fighter in this weight at that time and he lost the first fight in my eyes
and arguably and officially won it in other peoples eyes

castillo is one of my favs for beating and losing to the best at lightweight in his time but he is not as good as duran

not sure if you know this but duran is considered to be one the best or the best lightweight in boxing history!!

so you can have your opinion that floyd would tko duran at 135 but is it based on any logic or common sense?

I think most of you know the answer to that

I know Duran is considered one of the best 135 pounders ever...but put Duran in there with Shane Mosley at 135 or Floyd and I think he loses.

Mayweather had a torn rotator cuff against Castillo which explains the easy schooling in the second fight.

When we look back 20 years and come visit these forums and question pop up like this periodically the answers will be a lot different... Floyd is to smart for Duran and his chin is solid even though we've never seen it tested because he just doesnt get hit! Duran was an inside fighter and Floyd would expose him like he did Hatton, but would of DEC rather then KOed!

duran was the greatest lw ever hands down, he would pressure and pressure floyd, just like jlc did but better. duran by UD or perhaps a knockout if he can trap floyd and land some clean shots

Floyd beat Castillo the first fight with a torn rotator cuff...then he came back and beat him healthy...so the blueprint to beat Floyd is not the Castillo fight.

Duran is a better boxer and slicker defensively than people realize or remember. Probably because his highlights only have KO's and offensive moments but Duran was tricky, had excellent head movement and very good jab and straight right.

you have got to be kidding me. pernell whittaker, roberto duran, henry armstrong.............all would have murdered floyd, floyd is a great fighter, but he picks and chooses who he fights, he isnt a guy who will fight anyone any where like roberto duran was. he has great talent but i honestly think cotto has the tools to beat floyd, and duran (the greatest lightweight, and in the top 5 p4p of all time) would destroy floyd

A lot of his title defences at 135 were not impressive, I agree. but during his time at 135 he also fought a good amount of future/former world champions, and this was when the title belts meant WAY more than they do today. Buchanan and DeJesus are clearly his best wins there, those two were exceptional fighters, but he has some underrated wins at Lightweight along with those.

the fact of the matter is that Duran was not very good at finishing people that ran from him though. He was able to do it to Bizzarro and in devastating fashion, but in general he just got frustrated as hell when people ran away from him. He would pretty much easily beat them, but he had trouble knocking them out.

So I dont really think that theres any way that Duran would KO Mayweather, Mayweather is way too good defensively and Duran wasnt great at knocking people out if they ran from him.

but you have to keep in mind that this is a PRIME Lightweight Duran. Like someone else said above, Duran spent around a decade at 135, so him at the beginning of his Lightweight career(like his first fight against DeJesus) is not the same as him near the end of it when he was knocking out DeJesus.

I actually dont think Duran was that far away from his prime at all by the time the second Ray Leonard fight came around actually...he wasnt that old, and hadnt taken a real terrible amount of punishment either, because he had effective defense. Most of his bad performances after the Ray Leonard fight seemed to deal with him 1. Being above his natural weight and 2. Not being focused and staying in shape. Because I believe that after the Leonard fights, everyone ditched him, his trainers, promoters,etc...Im fairly sure. That might have thrown him off a bit.

uh anyways I think Duran would be too diverse in his offense and at the same time not let Mayweather really get the chance to hit him with anything that effective, he would win the decision.
