Lets see, De Jesus, Bucanan. He also went against Leonard at 147lbs ABOVE his natural weight which is harder than if he had faced him at 135lbs. The real question you have to ask is has PBF ever faced someone like Duran, not at 130lbs or 135lbs but EVER. The question is unequivacly NO.

      duran by dec

if floyd had trouble with castillo at 135
and castillo is a good fighter but he not in the same league as chavez

almost everyone would agree that duran is better than chavez so by those comparison i would say duran takes it by dec.

      just my opinion

Fair points Lefty , I just dont think 135 was Durans best or his natural weight , he was better later on and grew into a bigger fighter , 135 was very early in his career and Floyd would beat any fighter Duran fought at 135 , bottom line is its a competitive fight and I dont think anybody would be surprised whatever way the result went .

Good post. Lets list fighters that Duran faced that are better than anyone Floyd has ever faced.

          1.Leonard
          2.Hearns
          3.Hagler
          4.Benitez
          5.De Jesus
          6.Buchanan
          7.Palomino

Saying a fighter is better at a higher weight just because he beat better people is ignorant. Watch Duran at 135. It is by far and away his best weight. Hard to imagine considering how spectacular he was at the higher weights.

To be fair Floyd was inured in the first fight and did the right thing and promptly rematched ,, although Duran matured into a great Castillo was not all that far off this level at 135 when he peaked , people have made some great fighters larger than life with the passing of time , they didnt beat everyone easy and sometimes struggled with average guys , we shouldnt forget that .

Also, 135 was not early in his career, 135 was for the first 10 years of his career.

Referring to a 10 year stretch of a fighters career as if it was simply a short stop along the way is simply absurd.

Buchanan and De Jesus were better than anyone Floyd has fought in his entire career.

Not saying it wouldn't be competitive but just think Duran would win. One thing to also note that the heavier Duran is what PBF would face. Remember Duran fought in an era where weight-in's were on the same day of the fight. So fighters trained down to what there scheduled fight was for and fought at or very near the contracted weight.

Todays fighters have 24-36 hours to properly rehydrate and therefore they actually fight at 1-2 weight classes above there contracted weight. P.Williams fought a WW fight at 164lbs. Margarito a WW fights at 160lbs come fight time, Cintron a WW fights at 158lbs, Juan Guzman a SFW fights at 144lbs.

If Duran fought PBF with the same rules that PBF fought Castillo then Duran would have a fight weight and power of a WW.
