Prime for Prime!!! At 135!!! Mayweather vs. Duran!

Before watching the Hatton fight I would have bet the house on Duran, because although Mayweather was bragging about his bag of tricks, I never saw the dirty-cagey-inside part of it.
Now it's a very legit fight. There would be a lot of trading at midrange, and inside, as I dont believe Mayweather would be able to keep Duran on the outside for long.
A close UD for DuranComment

Who cares who got more advantage out of it? It's still a luxury he had that Duran didn't. Floyd had a severe size/reach advantage over every fighter he's ever fought, practically, esp in his campaign at 130-135. That's the point. Sure his long reach is a natural feature that he took advantage of, and rightly so, but it's of course magnified when he's fighting at 130 lbs. Don't tell me he didn't gain an advantage from having weigh-ins the day before, because he obviously did. All fighters of this generation do. We are comparing fighters of different generations.

Not only was Duran one of the best lightweights of all time, I have never seen anyone that loved to fight as much as he did. Honestly, I think Duran would have ended up being a fighter even if he would never earn a penny from any of his fights.Comment

lil floyd would have a reach advantage over duran too. corrales, castillo, de la hoya were all at da size advantge wen floyd fought dem but skill won da fight.Who cares who got more advantage out of it? And your also comparing a fighter that had finished his career a very long prolific career , now the Leonard Hagler fights and a mountain of great fights all above 135 dont influence people do they , off course not ,, sure it does thats why I see these threads so loaded against Floyd , he hasnt finished yet and if he beat Cotto and done the insane like going to middle and beating say Pavlik Im sure that would change the views of many here in these threads its like judging Floyds 3/4 career against a full one , if Durans career above 135 never happened people would think different of him because you just erased his greatest fights ,,, to say Floyd had a reach advantage as a point against him is like saying Hearns had a power advantage , the physical attributes they are born with cant be used against them thats so biased , you will also probably find in Floyds fights he was the smallest guy on fight night not the biggest as you suggest , at 135 when I think big I think Oscar not Floyd , as Floyd moved up the weights he has always fought guys bigger than him , even Hatton out weighed him on the night by a pound .Who cares who got more advantage out of it? It's still a luxury he had that Duran didn't. Floyd had a severe size/reach advantage over every fighter he's ever fought, practically, esp in his campaign at 130-135. That's the point. My money would go on Floyd to box a UD as Duran had the most trouble with speed and slippery fighters but if Duran won I wouldnt be surprised at all , they are both great fighters in any era and this fight is really a pickem fight .Comment

OK, your previous post sounded like his performances were enhanched because he took advantage of weigh ins the day before, but that does not matter if every other fighter he faced does the same, and more. if anything he is the fighter out there who is closer to the type of shape fighters were in the same day era... He is the only welter coming in under 150... He came in at 133 while at 130 for a while, when he moved up to 135 he was coming in under 140, and so on...Who cares who got more advantage out of it? It's still a luxury he had that Duran didn't. Floyd had a severe size/reach advantage over every fighter he's ever fought, practically, esp in his campaign at 130-135. That's the point. 130 today is about 135 of the 70s, a half division would mostly be enough, except for those freaks who gain 15% of theit body weight in 30 hours (Williams, Cotto at 140, Pacman, Guzman...).Comment

Reach matters more than height in boxing, and Floyd has the same arm length as Wladimir Klitschko for cripes sake, and has had a sizeable reach advantage over everyone he's been in the ring with.Comment
