Is Joshua Clottey meant to be a steppin stone?

IMO this guy and i think he has been meant to be a stepping stone for elite fighters or fighters who are supposed to be something. By stepping stone they are supposed to be guys who are strong but beatable. Clottey on the other hand is completely opposite. Undefeated Richardo Gutierrez, he fought clottey as a test to see how good he is, he ended up losing a MD. Then Clottey fights Margarito which was supposed to be a normal defense imo and he gave margarito hell, but Margarito won nonetheless . Then Corrales takes a comeback fight and he imo was suppose to make a splash in the 140 pound division but was giving a massive ass beating by clottey. Then he fights undefeated prospect Shamone Alvarez and takes him to school.

Anyways this guy is very underrated and he will get his title eventually

Exactly. There is so much talk about the other welters being avoided in Margarito and Cotto but this dude is underrated.

exactly. hight risk.. low reward is on the money.. he has to get his title shot..he can beat marg, quintana, cintron, and other top welters.. and the thing with clottey is that he wants to fight every1.

He's a good, tough fighter but hes nothing special. He had his chance and lost so it couldnt be expected that he just jump right into another title shot. He broke his hand against Margarito, true, but great fighters fight through that and win and thats why some people are champions and some arent. He has looked unimpressive his last few times out against bums but i think he'll fight for a vacant title soon. i dont see him being much of a threat in the division, but can definately hold his own and possibly do more if fighters over look him.
