    Cotto-Margarito similar to Marquez-Vazquez

I might be alone in this but I believe there are a lot of similarities in this matchup.

First you have guys with similar styles and strenghts but different places they want to keep the fight, all are considered good inside fighters and none have been particularly defensive minded. One is a better boxer who traditionally fights well on the inside but shouldn't against this opponent. The other is the larger more durable fighter who fights very welll on the inside and can boxes just to get inside.

Marquez/Cotto are good inside fighters who can **** on the inside with 99% of there opponents to there benefit. However in both cases they are the smaller guy who would possibly get the worse of it in prolonged inside fighting.

While neither Marquez/Cotto are slick boxers they are better boxers than there opponents and (Marquez tried) and Cotto will probably try and keep it at a distance and pick his spots.

Vazquez/Margarito are the stronger more durable fighters who can box somewhat but would much prefer to keep it on the inside and force the fight to be on the inside as much as possible.

I see Cotto's plan being to out box Margarito, (Not PBF type of outbox) but Marquez type of outbox where he jabs and picks when HE wants to exchange on the inside.

I see Margarito's plan being similar to Vazquez. Where Margarito will pressure and force as many exchanges as possible making it a predominantly inside fight. Where Vazquez was looking to land that hook on the inside Margarito will look to land that uppercut.

Margarito's signature uppercut landing on Cotto's glass chin = GAME OVER

      Not even...

Cotto takes him out in 10 rounds.

I'll give Tony credit that he'll put on a good fight, but in the end everyone will see how much better a fighter Cotto is.

I'm not necessarily talking about the outcome. Just the similarities in the fights.

Damn, look at the post date fellas........I had premonitions of this. The fight ended up being a classic. I just saw a 147lbs version of Vaz-Marq, Chavez-Taylor, Pryor-Arguello.

I am proud of Cotto.....he did great IMO and just lost to a better fighter. I actually foresaw the earlier rounds and they went pretty much as I suspected and that was Cotto landing a lot of VERY clean and Heavy leather. What I didn't suspect or forsee was that it would have no affect on Margarito . The man was a Juggernaught and like Vazquez, Chavez and Pryor they steadily wore down and broke there opponents.

A tip of the hat to Margarito....
