If Ruiz could unage 10 years he'd outdecision Sam fairly easily, but this version of Ruiz gets stopped in the mid to late rounds by Sam Peter. Sam won't let him hold either and it will get extremely ugly. I envision Ruiz being tossed to the ground several times and Peter losing points along the way.

Oh and this is a weird scenario. Sam would be picking his other mandatory as his voluntary defense. Remember, Ruiz beat McCline in a WBC eliminator. I'd sure as hell hope it would count as filling the other mandatory. Yet, what if Ruiz were to win? Actually, in any case, what if Sam were to lose? It would then be Vitali versus ???, wouldn't it? Interesting.

I think Ruiz is the best case scenario though. It would be beyong absurd if it didn't satisfy the mandatory. If it does, that only leaves Juan Carlos Gomez. Goddamn WBC, stop issuing eliminators unless you're doing it tourney style!

Sam Peter Vs John Ruiz ?

At least Sam Peter fights. John Ruiz should fight Bernard Hopkins
they can both hug for 12 rounds and laugh all the way to the bank
whilst the fans get suckered by another one of their 'fights'.
Actually I would not mind seeing David Haye vs John Ruiz
beating Ruiz would gain Haye alot of fans ... at least
the guy wants to actually fight ... Ruiz should join MMA
if he likes hugging so much ...

If Ruiz fights like he did against Chagaev could see him beating Peter up.

Peter has only fought 2 guys close to top level who were willing to really fight him - shot Maskaev & out-of-shape McCline.

Both were able to land pretty easily, McCline heavily, & Ruiz has a much better defence than either, as well as much better stamina.

If this comes off, suspect that a fired up Ruiz is much more active than usual, & gradually takes Peter apart as the fight goes on.

I hope Peter wins, only because there are much more exciting matchups for Samuel, like Haye, Klitschko, Tua, etc.

This is Don King pushing for one of his fighters against Peter, if not Golota, than Ruiz. Isn't Briggs also promoted by King? I guess it's very likely what we will see by July.

Well, the only good thing that could come from this fight is the chance for Peter to rid the division of Ruiz's presence. That would be nice.
