Will Margarito vs. Cotto Go The Distance?

If you ask me there is no way in hell this fight goes the full 12, unless Cotto outboxes him. Margarito, if he gets his way, will pressure Miguel all night and hopefully make him frustrated, because I think Marg can take Cotto's arsenel. Maybe not, but I don't look at the Cintron rematch as too much.

Cintron was mentally ****ed going into that fight, he just knew he couldn't beat Margarito, even though he drastically improved since the first fight. I think Cotto will take it to Margarito and the two will go at it, and from what I see in the future is Marg by TKO 9 OR Cotto TKO 10, it all depends who sets the pace.

I didn't think that Cintron matched up well with Margarito, style wise. I don't view Cintron to be as durable as Cotto and while Cintron has excellent power from the outside, Margarito took that away by continuously closing up the distance. Cotto is much more heavy handed in close, with shorter more precise punches. But point taken Margarito is really tough.

Basically I think that Cotto can do what Clottey did, but more effectively with a greater array to his arsenal.

Of course it's academic, it's just what I'm figuring.

Good post. This is why I had Cotto winning when the fight was first announced. Addy however got me thinking otherwise. Now I'm 50/50. I sincerely hope your right. If he doesn't get past Marg he'll never get a fight with Mayweather.

Did you see the Cintron rematch though? He was hitting Margarito with hooks, straights, overhands, uppercuts, ect, and it didn't slow him down at all.

I think is have to be a Ko fromm Cotto. Margo only goes forward throwing punches, that will leave him open a lot. Cottos faster and shorter punches will get their first, and when you get hit a lot you are suceptible to a Ko. Cotto will go forward a lot in this fight.I think it will be half a fight boxing and half a fight going forward.I think Cotto will go forward till he gets tony frustrated, making Tony slow his punching rate, and after that he will outbox Margarito,to the point that the accumulation of punishment will get to Tony! People talk about Margarito like he is IronMan or a robocop. But he aint, actualy he has been down with a body punch. Guess whats Cottos best weapon? Left hook to the body.Cotto have a better jab,better timming, better combination punching,better defense,speed wise is faster, he is very strong and posses great punching power, Cotto is a better boxer, overall. Margarito have a good chin and thow a lot of punches. Not good enough for a multidimensional Cotto, that gets better and better wich each fight!
