The thing is very few people really actually wanted the fight. People with a beef with Hatton wanted to use Hattons refusal to fight Witter against him. Fans of Hatton may want Ricky to fight him to shut him up. But the public at large know that Witter generally makes for absolute stinkers (if they are in Britain) or have no clue as to how Witter fights (if they are in America).

Witter doesn't have many fans, and that's the bottom line. He suggests that it's because he is black (which of course completely ignores the huge popularity of Nigel Benn, Frank Bruno and the increasing popularity of David Haye) and this claim is a symptom of the real reason he isn't well liked: He's really not very likable.

Being bitter about race is a great way of alienating white people (who in Britain generally don't give a toss what colour someone is unless they start up with "iz it cos I iz black" stuff) and as white people are the overwhelming majority in the UK Witter has basically killed off most of his fanbase before it even managed to build. But Witter comes across not only as sort of a racist, he also comes across as an unpleasant and bitter man, and it's hard to get over that in a sport where personality counts for so much.

no brainer, Hatton is better, Witter proved last night that he is over hyped, he has no game plan when things turn against him, same as Hamed the other Ingle fighter.
