Both Calzaghe and Hatton's resume is hard to define, They both fought too many mediocre opposition IMO and only have 0ne or two good names on their resume.

He did? A win on foreign soil against a decrepid Castillo and an absolute battering from Mayweather don't equate to "doing more" than a 10 year champ, 20 defence winning P4P top 3 fighter.Calzaghe is a good fighter .. but if he wants to outshine any British boxer, It should be Hatton.
In my opinion Hatton has done more than Joe, he didn't have a 20 year title run, but i bet with the right management and picked opponents he could have, instead he chose to look for big name fights and traveled to get them.
He just lost against a prime p4p best fighter on the entire planet, moving up in weight, traveling thousands of miles to fight .. to be the best on the planet
Joe just beat Hopkins ... a good few years out of prime Hopkins and he failed to do it impressively, but Joe will be remembered for his skill and title run, not who he fought.
I love Ricky to bits and financially he's already done better than Calzaghe but their legacies are miles apart.Comment

in calzaghe's defense, hopkins is hard to look good against.Junior Witter wants to perform better than his countryman Joe Calzaghe. Witter defends his WBC junior welterweight title against Timothy Bradley on Saturday in Nottingham. Witter feels that Calzaghe did not look his best when winning a split-decision over Bernard Hopkins a few weeks ago in Las Vegas. He knows that he can't afford to give anything but a stellar performance. [details]Comment

Calzaghe is clearly a better fighter than Hatton, and has by far the better resume: Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins, Brewer, Eubank, Mitchell, Reid, Woodhall, Veit and Sheika.
Hatton has courage and aggressiveness, but is reach-challenged and seems to tire and weaken in later rounds (Collazo, Urango, and Mayweather fights).
Joe is smarter, able to improvise, and gets stronger as the fights go on.Last edited by The Hammer; 05-08-2008, 07:39 AM.Comment

Mark Vester needs a third grade tutor.
A Welshmen and Englishmen are about as much countrymen as Mexicans and Americans! Please go look at a map or talk to a third grade teacher, this is the second time first being when you called Hattan and Calzaghe countrymen. Third time the charm, you may get it right.Comment

I really don't know where you guys come up with this stuff.
Castillo was stopped five, count em, FIVE times prior to Hatton.
1. Cesar Soto
2. Javier Jauregui (twice)
3. Julio Alverez
4. Diego Corrales.
Not to mention that Castillo's purse in the Hatton fight went to Corrales' family.Comment
you just made alot of people
good luck!
